Less Is Locs is reader-supported. Some links on this site are affiliate links, which means that if you click one and buy something, I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This includes links to Amazon and to some brands’ own stores.

Where a brand gives me a discount code for readers, the code also tells the brand the sale came from here. I’ll always say so next to the code.
What affiliate links do not do
- They never change a score or a verdict. Products I’d tell a friend to skip get told to skip, whether or not there’s a link.
- They don’t decide what gets tested. Products are chosen because readers ask about them, because they’re widely used, or because a claim needs checking.
- I don’t accept payment for reviews, and brands don’t see reviews before they’re published.
Free products and sponsorships
Right now, everything tested was bought at retail with my own money. If a brand ever sends a product for testing, the review will say so at the top, and the protocol and scoring stay the same. Sponsored content, if it ever exists, will be labelled as sponsored in the title and the first line.
How AI is used here
I use AI tools to help draft, organise and edit writing, to transcribe my voice notes, and to build this site. What AI does not do: test products, invent observations, write opinions, or generate images of hair. Every test, every result and every verdict comes from me, on my own locs, and the photos and videos are of my actual hair and the actual products. If a video voiceover is AI-generated from my written notes, the platform’s AI label is used where required.

Prices change. Where a price appears, it’s the price I paid or saw on the date shown, and it may be different when you look. Where Amazon prices are shown, product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change.
